The worker fell approximately 30 to 40 feet from the area between the ceiling and roof into the auditorium of Valley High School in the New Kensington-Arnold School District just after 10:30 a.m., according to emergency dispatchers and officials called to the scene.

The worker was attending to the HVAC along a catwalk between the ceiling and roof when they fell into the auditorium through the ceiling, according to a report by WPXI citing the school's superintendent Dr. Christopher Sefcheck.

The worker was rushed from the scene into a helicopter operated by STAT MedEvac, which landed without a pad in a nearby field, according to a Facebook post by  Kensington Fire Department Company 2.

“The high school was placed in lockdown to ensure the hallways were clear for medical personnel and to prevent students from leaving the building while the med-evac helicopter was assisting the evacuation of the patient. We thank the efforts of all individuals that helped with this difficult situation,” Sefcheck said in a statement to parents which was shared on social media.

No update on the worker's condition has been released.
